Vodafone has release a new super-budget Android phone, known as the Vodafone Smart that official announced last month. The Smart Android smartphone is available now in Vodafone UK with cost of £60 on Pay as you go (PAYG). Vodafone Group terminals director Patrick Chomet said: ’More and more Vodafone customers are enjoying the benefits of smartphones, which currently account for over 40% of the phones we sell in Europe. Continuing to push the boundaries through our own brand range, the Vodafone Smart is a new smartphone concept.

Vodafone Smart Features

The Vodafone Smart comes with a power button on the top, USB at the bottom, volume rocker down the side and measuring in 103.8 x 56.8 x 12.6mm with weight at just 104g. The Smart Android smartphone available in black or white colors option, but you can personalise your phone by picking one of a range of beautifully designed back covers by by uploading a picture of their choice or you can have a play on the Vodafone Design Studio web page. The device also pre loaded with Prepay Manager for quick and easy top-ups, a Vodafone app recommendation widget, Vodafone Music and the ‘Updates’ widget.

Powered by 528 MHz processor with 130 MB internal memory and microSD card support up to 32Gb, Vodafone Smart also packs with a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixel, 2 MP camera, Stereo FM radio with RDS and Standard battery that offer up to 250 h (2G) / Up to 380 h (3G) for standby time or Up to 4 h (2G) / Up to 4 h 30 min (3G) for talk time. The Smart Vodafone smartphone running on running on Android 2.2 Froyo and built in apps for Facebook, Twitter and Google Talk IM.
Other specifications of Vodafone Smart phone includes Digital compass, GPS with A-GPS support, Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Proximity sensor, 3.5mm jack, microUSB 2.0, and support multimedia player MP3/WMA/eAAC+ player, MP4/H.263/H.264 player. For connectivity, the Vodafone Smart Android smartphone offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, 3G, Wi-Fi hotspot and works on GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, HSDPA 2100.

The PlayStation Phone

It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.

The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed!
